Heavy metal fans outside Sophia, Bulgaria might have to wait a while until the historic Metallica/Megadeth/Slayer/Anthrax bill comes their way, but thanks to the miracle of satellite transmission, portions of the evening's performance from the June 22nd Sonisphere Festival will be screened in theaters across the U.S, Canada, Latin America and Europe. So until the numbers and logistics can be worked out to bring the show to the rest of the world, this will be the only way the rest of us will see Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax on the same stage.
There are caveats, of course. The show will be broadcast in select theaters for one night only (the same night of the performance in Sophia), and each band's entire set will not be shown. Fans outside Europe, North and Central America will have to wait before the performance broadcast comes to their shores.
For those lucky enough to hit a cinema on June 22nd, it will be the closest thing to actually seeing the Big Four - until their respective managements hammer out a satisfactory deal to bring the bill overseas. Tickets should not cost more than a regular movie ticket, and it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world seeing "Master of Puppets", "Hangar 18", "Angel of Death" and "Among the Living" in the comfort of a good cinema. Of course, that won't hold a candle to actually being there, but until the Big Four turns westwards, bring on the popcorn.
Now can anyone give me a ride?
