Band set to release new album, 'A Different Kind of Truth,' on Feb. 7

Van Halen fans that I know seem really divided about this whole reunion with David Lee Roth thing. Is this good for music or bad? Can Van Halen really return to the glory days of old once again? Will these guys even be able to get along enough to pull off a long tour to support their first album in 14 years, A Different Kind of Truth? With the album set to drop on February 7, I thought I'd share my own thoughts.

My generation grew up with Van Halen (yes, I'm a kid of the 80s) and I have to say I'm skeptical - but I'm more of the cautiously optimistic bunch than many of my more hardcore VH-crazy friends. So far, I've seen the video for, and heard, the first song "Tattoo." I've also heard a preview of another new song, "Blood and Fire." These two singles could not be more different. Fans hoping to see The Boss in 2012 had big troubles buying seats

I'd really hoped that I wouldn't have to post something like this, but alas, I do: Getting Bruce Springsteen concert tickets to upcoming 2012 Wrecking Ball shows was a total and complete disaster for some fans. Lots of people were shut out completely as Ticketmaster errors caused horrible headaches.

Bruce Springsteen, how I've missed you. For fans who were living under rocks this week: Springsteen's new single, "We Take Care of Our Own" is out. And you know what that means, right? Yes, a new album AND a full band tour!

After spending several days holed up in my little office listening to the song on repeat (well, not really days, more like hours, but hey that does NOT mean I'm obsessive), I can definitely say I love it. Much More Than Just Goth

My favorite band of all time is Joy Division, whose lead singer Ian Curtis committed suicide just before they were supposed to go on the big American tour that would have made them world-famous. They're often seen as a proto-goth band, but Joy Division's lyrics were far more intelligent and serious than those of true goth bands like Bauhaus.

The guys are seen as heroes by a lot of people in the Boston area and the whole northeastern United States, because they make music that gets your blood boiling and they always stand up for the underdog.

Mr. Doctor

Most people have never heard of a band called Devil Doll, or if they have they probably associate the name with a completely different, noirish band from the USA. The Devil Doll I'm talking about is an Italian-Slovenian art rock project headed up by a man known only as “Mr. Doctor.” Until 2007, nobody really knew who Mr. Doctor was, though he has since been identified as a Slovenian man of Italian descent named Mario Panciera. Many of the members of the band didn't even meet each other for a long time, as Mr. Doctor would record parts of the music in Italy and other parts in Slovenia.

Remember this song from the late 90s? I remember because I bought the tape and wore it out so badly that I had to then purchase the CD, which I think may have been my first-ever CD. The technology we've witnessed in our lifetime is simply amazing; remember when our tapes used to split after being played so often that we'd actually cut the ribbon just to tape it back together and make it work again?
