Bruce Springsteen 'Wrecking Ball' Album: New Tracks Released

Fans get one track per day until all are heard

As a Springsteen fan (nooo, you dont say?), I'm in Bruce heaven at the moment. Why? Because since Monday, I've had a chance to listen to one new track from the new Wrecking Ball album every day. And yes, I'm aware that there is a totally illegal link out there, but I refused to listen. I want to hear the tracks the way they were intended: in order, and with the highest quality sound possible. Plus, I don't do illegal stuff.

So far, Springsteen is blowing my mind. Now I'm a huge fan so I'm totally biased, but I love Wrecking Ball as much as I liked the Magic album when it came out. And more than Working on a Dream. I'm fully prepared to tell you why.

The Boss on Hand to Offer Insights

Journalists and critics in Paris had the opportunity to get a first listen to Bruce Springsteen's new album, Wrecking Ball, this week. Yeah, I'm jealous, but I'm putting that aside to give you the scoop here, because we've got a much better idea of what to expect when this thing drops next month.

Wrecking Ball, it seems, is definitely a hybrid mix of folk, rock, gospel and soul. And, like so many of Springsteen's best albums, it speaks to the times, blasting away at those who've wrecked the economy (and continue to do so), while others suffer the consequences of those actions.

Foo Fighters Are Multiple Nominees

It's that time of year again -- awards season. Yawn. Of course, this includes the 2012 Grammy Awards, which once again fail to really represent rock music. This year's great rock hope: the Foo Fighters. They're up for multiple Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Best Rock Album for Wasting Light. They'll also be performing live on the show, so there's that.

But as a whole, if you're a fan of rock music (and no, Bon Iver doesn't count), you probably will watch something else.

Van Halen with David Lee Roth: Good or Bad?

Van Halen fans that I know seem really divided about this whole reunion with David Lee Roth thing. Is this good for music or bad? Can Van Halen really return to the glory days of old once again? Will these guys even be able to get along enough to pull off a long tour to support their first album in 14 years, A Different Kind of Truth? With the album set to drop on February 7, I thought I'd share my own thoughts.

My generation grew up with Van Halen (yes, I'm a kid of the 80s) and I have to say I'm skeptical - but I'm more of the cautiously optimistic bunch than many of my more hardcore VH-crazy friends. So far, I've seen the video for, and heard, the first song "Tattoo." I've also heard a preview of another new song, "Blood and Fire." These two singles could not be more different. One I like, one I'm starting to really hate.
